While on the way to the train station, I had an idea: What if I invented post-it notes that had the Facebook 'Like' symbol on it? What would happen if I then proceeded to stick those post-its to whatever I think is 'like-worthy'?
A poster showing a particularly delicious looking California Maki and some Ebi Tempura? Like. Nice security personnel who helped an elderly woman with her luggage? Like. A cute little girl wearing a big smile and tossing her curls while pulling her mother along by the hand? Like. Free postcards that you can take as many as you want? Like. A kiosk selling scrapbooking materials at half-price? Betsy C.S. and 2 others like this.
I’d sell them for 25 pesos/pack (each pack consisting of 10 leaves of paper), and call them 'Like-its'. The target market would consist of gullible teens who are addicted to anything Facebook. Then I'd have family and friends assist me in advertising over the Internet by creating a fan page on--where else?--Facebook. (Incidentally, to be able to access a fan page you have to 'Like' it first.)
So far the only obstacles to becoming successful in this venture are these:
1) I am not sure whether I need to contact 3M, the company who the guy who invented Post-it notes works for and the man who created Facebook, and ask their permission prior to production, or if I can just go ahead and produce 'Like-its' on my own.
2) I currently do not own, or know anyone who owns, a paper mill and/or a glue factory.
3) I know nothing about business management (but since my mom's a bookkeeper, I think she can help with that).
4) My conscience is nagging me, saying things like, "Oh, the poor trees they will have to cut down for your nonsense." , "You could use the money you'll inevitably spend on this on more worthwhile endeavors, like, say, helping the poor kids in church!", "Just what we need, another way to add to the garbage heaps: hello Inconvenient Truth!" and, "Do you really want to be known as the girl who grew up to invent 'Like-its'?"
In the end my conscience won.
haha. like. :P
