In the middle of the casual insults we greeted each other with--all in good fun, mind you--I mentioned that Converse came out with a limited edition Dr. Seuss series.
Ah, Google Image Search. You never fail to make me drool. |
So he suggested we look for the store. The mall directory showed that there wasn't a Converse store there (boo!) so Tito Chino suggested we head to the department store. To my disappointment, all of the three designs I liked (the first one is shown above) were available only in children's sizes (double boo!).
Looking around, I caught sight of a clear plastic sneaker, grabbed it, and showed it to him. "Look!" I said, waving the shoe.
It's like someone thought to combine two of my favorite things: Cinderella references and mad scientist fashion. |
"That's nice." Tito commented.
True to form, I started to disagree with him. "But it'll be hot to wear. Especially in the summer."
He nodded, then inspected the shoe.
I changed my mind. "But then I'll be able to show off those multi-colored, polka-dotted or striped socks that you were laughing at."
He grinned. "Those! Yes, you'll be able to make good use of those with a pair of these. So buy them."
"But it'll be hard to make them match my clothes!"
"So don't buy them. Buy something like this instead." He motioned towards a sneaker that rose up to one's calves.
"But that looks like the fake ones you can buy at Monumento. This doesn't."
"So buy that one, and just wear black socks with it so you'll be able to wear any old thing." He checked his mobile phone.
I glanced at the price tag. Php 3,219.75. "Aargh. But its so expensive."
He raised an eyebrow. "Then don't buy it!" He sighed.
"But---"
"Let's go, maybe we can go to DQ and grab a Blizzard."
I put the shoe down. "Ok."
Ice Cream-1, Sneakers-0.
Two of the many, many things that are forever out of my reach. |
