Acquired Skill of the Week: French Braids

Boredom led me to browse Youtube videos for some hair braiding tutorials and play with my younger cousin's hair. The only braiding I could do before this was the very basic three-part one, so I focused on learning the French braid. Good thing my cousin has long hair and didn't mind sitting uncomfortably for prolonged periods of time. Once I'd thought I got the basics of French braiding down, I proceeded to play around.

Behold:

Day One: Attempt #1

Of course, I'm still trying to get the hang of this, so it's all still a bit messy for my taste, but hey, the day before yesterday I didn't even know how to make a simple French braid.

Here's another:

Day Two: Attempt #2

See the middle picture for Day Two? That there's a Fish Bone braid. Heh. (You can tell I'm really proud of myself for these.) Day Two's today, by the way, but that didn't stop me from three more attempts. Yes, THREE.

Day Two: Attempt #3

I was trying to French braid all around my cousin's head, but her hair was really thick, so I decided on a variation on the very first hairstyle I did for her.

Day Two: Attempt #4

By the early afternoon, she'd managed to get her hair loose, so I decided on a simpler style for her before she went out to play a few games of badminton with her friends. Those are two Fish Bone braids on the side of her head that I twisted a few times and then wrapped around the base of her pony tail.

When she got back from her game that elastic that held her pony tail had broken (I told you her hair's thick.), so after she'd gotten herself cleaned up, she asked me to braid her hair again.

I happily obliged.

Day Two: Attempt #5
Now there are only two things that I need to learn regarding this: how to make it neater, and how to braid my own hair.

Uh-oh.
