I have spent the last two days in La Union, hanging out with my best friend Razel at her grandparents' house. We mostly stay in her room where we watch movies on her laptop, discuss our woes and then laugh about them; occasionally adjusting the ac when it gets too cold or too humid. We only go downstairs for meals and some TV, although we did leave the house this afternoon to go visit a local Chinese temple to take pictures.
You'd think people would call this vacation a success, seeing as I, in particular, got to rest and just do as I please all day, spending time with one of the few people who really know me. I received a text message just thirty minutes or so ago, though, that simply said, "That's it?"
Sorry if I'm ranting, especially since we haven't met yet. I don't really know why, but I thought about you, about what you'd have to say. I mean, would you ask the same thing of me if I told you about the last couple of days?
Look at me. I'm picking a fight with you and I haven't even seen your face.
How silly.
Okay, I'll stop now.
Oh, wait, I want to ask: do you have a best friend? I hope you do. It helps to know that there's at least one person out there in the world who's not related to you. Someone not obligated to take on you and all your baggage but chooses to, all the same, just because they see something in you they think is worth hanging around for; even if what that "something" is remains a mystery to you. I hope you get days like this; days that are fun and silly and lazy all at once. These are the kind of days upon which you look back years later to find that all the details have been blurred, except for the certainty that it was a day well spent and you wouldn't mind having one like it again.
There, I've calmed down. I have a feeling you're good at getting people to do so. I'm looking forward to the day you'll help me calm down in person.
Don't take too long,
B
I have one though we don't call each other besties. We haven't gone out of town together but we always enjoy a night of series marathons. :D
