Of New Looks and Books

Today I decided I needed to change the way this blog looks. The background image was something off of the stock photos, and a bit too literal for my taste considering it's title. So I took a picture I had drawn in the middle of a sleepless night last week and decided I wanted for it to be the background, see?

Click the image if you want to take a closer look. :)

I was actually surprised at how colorful it turned out, I wasn't exactly feeling cheery when I was making it. I wanted it to look like a page off of an old book--yellowing and a bit faded, so I tweaked it. Now it even makes me want to take a sniff of the screen, it reminds me of the old books at my high school. I used to walk in there, take a book off the shelf, open it to a random page, and take a deep whiff.

I made it wider so that when it tiled the background won't look to "noisy." Heh.

Perhaps that's why I never really enjoyed e-books. To me reading isn't just about the story, it's also about the page, the spine, the actual act of cracking open a book, and knowing that at the flick of the wrist you'd be transported somewhere new. It's the knowledge that what you hold in your hands was once thoughts just circling around someone's head until the author caught the words and spun the tale, and someone else thought the tale should be told, and that records should be made of it. I could go on and on of course, but then I'd only sound even crazier than before.

Anyway, what do you think of my tree? I call it: "The Meeting Place".
